Digital Leadership Community: Building the airplane while we fly it

10. januar 2020 kl. 07:30 - 09:00

Take part and expand your digital ecosystem – partnering up with leading minds to transform into the future. This time Kimberly Lein-Mathisen, General Manager, Microsoft Norway, will ignite our dialogue. The seminar will be in English.

November 2019 Microsoft opened two new datacenter regions in Norway, and with this unlocked the vast range of opportunities that lies within a Norwegian based hyperscale cloud. Advanced technology like, AI, IoT and Mixed reality is now available for all as a service, at the blink of an eye, without big investments. Great innovations can be unlocked with only one developer. How does this impact Norwegian companies and leadership?

Kimberly Lein-Mathisen shares her perspectives on innovation, change and leadership and illustrates with the powerful learnings from Microsoft’s own transformation story.

When the world shifted from on prem to cloud, Microsoft woke up to a new world, and started to re-engineer itself from perpetual licensing to subscription sales. To support the change Microsoft developed a framework, based on Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck’s notion “growth mindset”, unleashing a company culture with the capability of building an airplane while flying it.

As a pre-read for our discussions, please see the HBR case study on the transformation of Microsoft.

The Digital Leadership Community

The Norwegian Polytechnic Society offers signature seminars on cutting-edge digital and transformative topics guided by top profiles. Talents, experts and leaders from various industries gather to share learnings, insights, perspectives and challenges, so that we can collectively learn and accelerate Norway’s transformation to a new digital era. Digitalization is a key enabler for fundamental innovation and disruption – and the leaders of today have a unique opportunity to shape the future.

To accelerate innovation and adoption of new digital technology, the Polytechnic Society is running an exclusive circle on Digital Leadership with noteworthy front runners in the digital space in Norway. We will address the opportunities, but also the challenges that arise in a digital future.
The circle format is a 30 minute presentation from a distinguished guest speaker addressing specific challenges on a chosen topic within digital leadership. This is followed by a round-table dialogue, where everyone is encouraged to participate and bring in their experience and questions.

The Digital Leadership Community’s guest speakers:

  • January 11, 2019: Silvija Seres, President of Norway’s Polytechnic Society
  • March 8, 2019: Nikolai Astrup, Minister of Digitalisation (Conservative Party) and Marie Louise Sunde, Surgeon, Author and Entrepreneur
